THE ETRUSCAN KILLS AGAIN (1971): greatly underappreciated Armando Crispino mystery set in ancient necropolis.
THE KILLER IS STILL AMONG US (1984): incredibly graphic and disturbing take on the Monster of Firenze. Be warned. FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET (1971): still needs a proper North American DVD presentation! THE IGUANA WITH THE TONGUE OF FIRE (1971): ditto above (I will be reviewing this soon) BLOOD AND BLACK LACE (1964): Enough said... THE STRANGE VICE OF MRS. WARDH: (1970) Sergio Martino's first, and best, giallo with a killer cast and script. THE UNNATURALS (1969) obscure Antonio Margheritit krimi-giallo-horror mix desperately in need of a R1 DVD AMUCK/LEATHER & WHIPS/MANIAC MANSION/ (1972): Farley Granger; Barbara Bouchet; Rosalba Neri More titles will be added later.

LA SORELLA DI URSULA DVD: Preview | #2
Screenwriter-Director Enzo Milioni in the featurette THE FATHER OF URSULA.
COMING SOON: A detailed review of Severin-Film's new DVD presentation. A black leather clad killer stalks a Mediterranean resort performing coitus interrupt-us on horny couples with an elaborate blade and a monstrous, elaborately carved extension! Outrageous, erotic, bloody, you have to admit it's an original. This unique 1978 giallo is as compelling and sleazy as they come. Just from the few scenes I've previewed it looks crisp and colorful, another High Defintion transfer from Severin Films. Worth the price of admission is THE FATHER OF URSULA, a fascinating 30 minute featurette in which screenwriter-director Enzo Milioni discusses in detal the history of the giallo genre, the conception, production of the film, actors Barbara Magnolfi, the late Marc Porel and the incredible instrument of death, which he proudly, shall we say... displays. I'll be back with a complete review as soon as possible....

THE SISTER OF URSULA DVD REVIEW | #3
|
A blade in the dark awaits careless lovers who have a last shag before death... The sister of Ursula (Stefania D'Amario, left) spends most of her days and nights in bedroom activites Ursula (Barbara Magnolfi) arrives at a Mediterranean resort for a vacation but finds herself in the midst of a series of brutal sex slayings. Great cover, but does the DVD measure up? I remember once taking a very slow, relaxing train and road tour along the western Mediterranean coast of Italy and wondering just what was going on in some of those luxury resorts which seem to be built into the sides of some of the mountains which slope toward the sea. Ursula Beyne (Barbara Magnolfi) and her sister (Stefania D'Amario) check into a four star resort near Amalfi for some sun and sex. Ursula, disturbed by her father's death, has some precognitive abilities, and is upset by the atmosphere and some of the hotel's rather strange guests, one of whom she predicts will murder her. A series of brutal sex murders begins to unfold in and around the hotel. Couples making love seem to be the target: men are skewered by an elaborate blade while the women are eviscerated by a large, wooden phallus carved in the shape of a monk! Is is the just-a-gigolo heroin addict (Marc Porel) who forces the hotel lounge singer (Yvonne Harlow) to provide him with drugs? Is it the all-to-willing to please hotel manager? Could it be one of those suspicious leisure suited men hanging out in the bar? How about the pimp who runs a prostitution service out of the hotel? Imagine if somehow Jess Franco teamed up with Andy Milligan and went to a hotel in Italy to make a sexploitation thriller and you get the idea. It's that bad and that good. By 1978 the giallo genre had seen just about everything. But a black leather clad killer who stalks a Mediterranean resort performing coitus interrupt-us on
horny couples with an elaborate blade and a monstrous, elaborately carved extension?! Outrageous, erotic, bloody, you have to admit it's an original. This
unique 1978 giallo is as compelling and sleazy as they come. It's very much in the same league as Andrea Bianchi's 1975 STRIP NUDE FOR YOUR KILLER.

A nice touch is how we get to see the shadow of the deadly dildo slowly come erect every time it is about to perform.
Yes, I have to think they must have had a lot of laughs staging this outre stuff. Could this film be made anywhere today?! Actually, this DVD improves my opinion of this 100% and the interview shows Milioni has a welcome sense of humor and perspective. And welcome to the forum, Jojo!

Bay of Blood, Blood and Black Lace, Deep Red, The House With Laughing Windows, The Killer Must Kill Again, A Lizard in a Woman's Skin, My Dear Killer, The
Short Night of the Glass Dolls, What Have You Done to Solange?, Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key.
Bob, some titles on your list that I'm unfamiliar with, so a great resource in my hunt for more gialli. I've heard so many different takes on "The Iguana With the Tongue of Fire", that I put off ordering it. Your inclusion of it on your list, however, has convinced me to get a hold of it.

Thanks for your list, lizardskin. And welcome to CINEMADROME. If you have any questions about any on my list I'd be happy to answer them, some are not
available on DVD. I don't think THE KILLER IS STILL AMONG US has any US or UK DVD release. The score for IGUANA is one of my top favorites among giallo
titles and I enjoy watching it for that alone, but it's very underrate and needs a HD DVD presentation. I just have a low quality video dub from
Venezuelean video.

Thanks! But why have you edited your own response into my original post? I am not questioning your authority as boardmaster, mind you, far from it! As far as I
am concerned, you are the boss here! It is just a bit unusual.

My book report for Sister Of Ursula | #9
|
A few years back the Eurotrash Paradise did Sister Of Ursula as a book club entry and it was hotly discussed with members either loving or hating it. Some
found it wanting in the story department, some thought it did not go far enough! Pardon any unseemly language, but here is my book report. I came in late on
the conversation, so there is a lot of summary and spoilers ahead.
Remember, this was just a big online group of guys discussing the movie-not exactly scholarly, but more for fun. The nudity count was included because some of our members actually missed all of it somehow. I guess they were caught up in the mystery
One of my favorite bits in this film is the hair swap for good guy/bad guy-Porel pulls it off. Fast Stats re: nudity (seeing as it was so hotly contested) 14 Grande Bush (aka Full frontal) 3 Bared Breasts (single shot) 3 Muti-bottom (naked with gory splatter in crotch-not sexy, but onscreen) Things I liked in this one. -Ursula's braids in that singing scene, and since Curt already examined it the continuity error probably helped me really hook onto those. Really interesting look on a VERY hot woman. -Sisters Sharing Sedatives So Sweet. That is great as it is obvious that Ursula is looking for a little killdo time without that meddling kid (urr...sister) -Porel's hair over his eyes when he is bad, he brushes it away and BOOM, he is a good guy! -Chainsturbation!! WOW, outstanding softcore rubbing with that gold chain from Stefania D'Amario! The post orgasm shudder and nipple play garners extra points for style. -Random mirror dancing whore! Hmmm...you just know when you mess around like that a killdo will come a'callin'. -The subplot of the hotel owner and his wife digging the HLA (Hot Lesbian Action) was really entertaining. When the couple is arguing around the hotel the editing is great as the zoom from room to room to garden and off into the distance, still arguing. -The KILLDO rising sequence in the underground part of the hotel with the two kids looking for a place to screw around. YOWZA...for some reason I felt like humming BEWARE...BEWARE THE BLOB. Don't ask why, but it must be the slithering shadow of doom shot...or I'm just nuts. -Stella Shining. Nuff said on the song, awesome awesomeness of awe inspiring atonal intonation. AUGH! I love it. Cry Baby Cry has a B-Side I guess! -Eurotrash has a new Salad Toss Maestro! JEEZ!! Plus, that scene ends with the great line..."Now go to your room." Jeez, if I'm licking out that much hot coulo and getting a helluva probably not entirely simulated blowjob and can then just send it away on command I'm king for a day. I bet ole Vanni's stache still retains a little Shining Sex (for you Francophiles). -"GO! Go rub up against him like a cat in heat!" -Doctor Disco and the paranormal segement comes right atcha and is awesomely what the holy fuck is this???? Sorta like Suspiria, but retarded. -The Z Minutiae Merit Badge goes to the funky doodle staircase of blobular shapes-each one different. So cool, it needs to be in every movie that features J&B prominently. ALSO... Random Thoughts... -The above is posted as a look at the things I key into when I watch Eurotrash. I didn't expect a giallo (does this count, it isn't much of a mystery at all), I just wanted to get nasty with some strange characters running around a strange place. The hotel sure was odd (uh, an underground lair??) and the people...well, yeah. Bad fucking choices (literally and figuratively) and ill behavior of the best type dominate this one. Big fun! -Barbara Magnolfi is beautiful, and she plays wacky pretty well. I was more impressed with D'Amario and her way over the top performance. Be it grinding or worrying or looking all scared of a krazed killdo, she pulls it off. Porel is great as the ooky asshole and I don't know how he wore that hair over his eyes so much. -The music, while pretty much three themes is really good. Mimi Uva (now THAT is a name) also did MataloMan Cesare Canevari's flick KILLING OF THE FLESH. That one has some cast members from Ursula as well...and I know I have it around here unwatched. Time to dig in and find it!! -Enzo Milioni does a good job in the director slot as well-I thought he picked some neat shots and even though the film is cheap and sleazy it isn't poorly constructed. I can forgive poor direction if the film is over the top, but I didn't have to here. -Overall, a great sleazy potboiler more than a giallo film-but I really LIKE sleazy potboilers. Me, I'm a fan of this one...it isn't as raw as Giallo A Venezia or Mad Foxes, but it holds it's own and is a great bit of true European TRASH Cinema. http://david-z.blogspot.com |

Thanks for the very amusing and spot-on report and welcome to the board, Morpho. Yes, I agree that it's a very entertaining potboiler. The sleaze factor is
places it in the mid 70s and it's a good nostalgia trip for me. And what about that abrupt, jaw dropping ending?!

BLOOD AND BLACK LACE (1964) | #12
I first saw this film in the late 1960s on a small black and white television! Not the way to see this film. It reinvents color or how to make a color film. And the BLUTIGE SEIDE version thrusts you into a world of intoxicating tints from which there is no escape.

I have been pretty unlucky with this one - just one inadequate version after another. I hope I can find this German version, however OOP.
I've not been too fortunate either with BARON BLOOD. |

Hello.
The german dvd for "Blood And Black Lace" is not out of print. You can still order it from amazon.de http://www.amazon.de/Blut...qid=1224318880&sr=8-1 I ordered it myself the other day. What is out of print are the limited versions (i.e. the Buio-Omega box). I know that you can use a german amazon-account to order from amazon.com, so it should work the other way around too. |

The price was about 12 EUR (which should be about 17$). Quite a good price for a non-mainstream dvd in Germany.

Folks, beware that the presently available Blütige Seide, linked to in Stephans post above, does not have any english options. The OOP release had english
subtitles (and italian language track, which, I believe, is not present on the current release). However, the OOP can be found on a certain torrent-page (can I
mention that here?) for those that are eager enough to go for that.

Here's a link to the mentioned tracker, cinemageddon, with the OOP german edition (with italian audio and english subtitles). Not too many seeders at the
moment, but I'm sure you'll get it down (http://cinemageddon.org/details.php?id=23766). You have to register (free) to download it.
